EU: Malt exports in July-November practically unchanged from a year and two years ago

EU malt exports (barley equivalent) from July, 1 till November, 27 were 1.151 mln tonnes, vs. 1.146 mln in 2021 and 1.188 mln tonnes in 2020, an unbelievably regular pace, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their December report.

Main customers were Nigeria which imported 81 thousand tonnes, Brazil with 76 thousand, South Africa with 73 thousand, Japan with 67 thousand, and the UK with 60 thousand tonnes.

Against all predictions, container ocean freight markets crashed and are close to pre-pandemic levels. Industry order books of container vessels and TEU’s are huge; also congestion in container ports has been reduced to a good extent, it is reported.
